ClickBank for Beginners β€” Update #10 How I Would Start With ClickBank Today β€” One Step at a Time

ClickBank for Beginners β€” Update #10 How I Would Start With ClickBank Today β€” One Step at a Time

If I were starting over with ClickBank today, I would do something differently.

I would slow down.

When you’re new to affiliate marketing, it’s easy to believe you need dozens of products, complicated funnels, expensive advertising, and several different programs running at the same time.

I’ve learned that doing too much can make it harder to understand what’s actually working.

So if I were starting today, especially as a retiree or beginner, here’s the approach I would take.

Step 1 β€” Learn Before You Promote

Before trying to make a sale, I would first understand the basic affiliate-marketing process:

Find an offer β†’ Get your affiliate link β†’ Attract interested visitors β†’ Follow up β†’ Track what happens β†’ Improve

That sounds simple, but each step matters.

A visitor clicking your affiliate link doesn’t automatically mean you’ve made a sale.

That’s why I believe beginners should spend some time understanding the process before spending heavily on traffic.

Step 2 β€” Start With One Audience

This is something I’m working on myself.

Instead of trying to sell to everybody, decide who you’re trying to help.

For SpareTimeProfit.com, I’m particularly interested in people like meβ€”retirees, beginners, and people looking for ways to potentially create additional income in their spare time.

That gives me a much clearer question to ask when considering a product:

β€œWould this actually be useful to the people visiting my blog?”

If the answer isn’t clear, I don’t need to promote it just because it pays a commission.

Step 3 β€” Choose Products Carefully

ClickBank gives affiliates access to many different offers.

But that doesn’t mean we need to promote all of them.

I’d rather start with a small number of products that fit my audience and learn how to promote those effectively.

Before promoting an offer, I would look at things such as the sales page, the problem the product claims to solve, its price, its affiliate resources, and whether I would feel comfortable recommending that my readers investigate it.

The commission mattersβ€”but trust matters more.

Step 4 β€” Don’t Send Every Visitor Straight to a Sales Page

This is one of the biggest changes I’m making with Spare Time Profit.

Instead of every advertisement saying:

BUY THIS PRODUCT

I want more of my advertising to say:

COME LEARN SOMETHING USEFUL

That’s why I’m building useful articles on SpareTimeProfit.com.

A visitor might arrive because they’re curious about ClickBank, traffic, email marketing or affiliate marketing.

They can read first.

Then they can decide whether they want to investigate one of the programs or resources I mention.

Step 5 β€” Build an Email List

This may be one of the most important lessons I’ve learned.

If I pay for a visitor and immediately send that person to somebody else’s sales page, I may never see that visitor again.

An email list gives me another opportunity to communicate with people who actually want to hear from me.

That’s also why I’m interested in CB Profit Club.

Visitors who want to learn more can use the CB Profit Club banner on the right side of my blog and review the information for themselves.

I don’t have to force everyone into the same offer.

Step 6 β€” Follow Up

Most people aren’t necessarily going to purchase something the first time they see it.

They may need more information.

They may want to read another article.

They may simply need more time.

That’s where follow-up becomes important.

Instead of constantly searching for brand-new visitors, I want to become better at communicating with the people who have already shown an interest.

Step 7 β€” Track What Actually Happens

This is where affiliate marketing becomes much more interesting.

Don’t just ask:

β€œDid I make a sale?”

Also ask:

How many people saw my advertisement?

How many clicked?

How many became leads?

Which subject line received the most response?

Which article attracted attention?

Which offer produced results?

If I receive traffic but no clicks, that’s one problem.

If I receive clicks but no leads, that’s another.

If I’m generating leads but no sales, I need to investigate the offer, audience, follow-up and conversion process.

Those numbers can help tell us where the problem may be.

Step 8 β€” Give Yourself Time to Learn

This may be especially important for beginners.

Affiliate marketing is not a magic ATM.

There will probably be advertisements that don’t work.

There may be products that don’t convert.

There will be things we have to change.

I’m experiencing that myself.

But instead of hiding the unsuccessful parts, I want to use SpareTimeProfit.com to document what I’m learning.

Because sometimes the lesson from something that didn’t work can be more valuable than another success story.

Where I’m Starting

My plan going forward is straightforward:

Learn β†’ Build β†’ Promote β†’ Follow Up β†’ Grow

You’ll recognize those words from the new Spare Time Profit header.

That’s not just decoration.

That’s the process I want this blog to document.

And if you’re a retiree or beginner trying to understand affiliate marketing, you’re welcome to follow along.
