Welcome back to my ClickBank Profit Challenge journey.
In my last update, I talked about why I’m becoming more interested in building an audience instead of constantly chasing the next affiliate sale.
Now I want to talk about something every affiliate marketer needs:
TRAFFIC
We hear it all the time:
“You need more traffic!”
And yes, without visitors, even the best website or affiliate offer won’t accomplish much.
But I’m learning to ask a different question:
Do I really need MORE traffic—or do I need BETTER traffic?
Those aren’t necessarily the same thing.
1,000 Visitors Don’t Automatically Mean 1,000 Prospects
Imagine sending 1,000 people to an affiliate offer.
That number sounds impressive.
But what if most of those people aren’t interested in affiliate marketing?
What if they click only because they’re earning credits on a traffic exchange?
What if they leave after five seconds?
The traffic counter may look good, but those visitors may not produce many meaningful actions.
Now consider sending only 100 people who are genuinely interested in:
- Making extra money in their spare time
- Affiliate marketing
- Building an online business
- Learning how to generate traffic
- Building an email list
Those 100 targeted visitors could potentially be much more useful than 1,000 random visitors.
That’s why I’m starting to pay more attention to traffic quality.
My Traffic Strategy Is Changing
I’ve used different sources of online traffic.
I’ve used solo ads.
I’ve used mailers.
I’ve used traffic exchanges.
I’ve experimented with different advertising programs.
And I’m still learning.
But the ClickBank Profit Challenge is helping me look beyond simply asking:
“How many clicks did I get?”
Now I want to know:
Where did those clicks come from?
Did people actually read my page?
Did they click through to the offer?
Which advertisement produced the response?
Which traffic source should I use again?
Those answers are much more valuable than a big visitor number by itself.
Stop Sending Every Visitor Straight to a Sales Page
This is another change I’m working on.
Instead of automatically sending every visitor directly to an affiliate sales page, I’m building SpareTimeProfit.com into the center of my online business.
Think about this:
Ad → Spare Time Profit Content → Helpful Information → Relevant Offer
Instead of:
Ad → Sales Page → Goodbye
The first approach gives me an opportunity to introduce myself and provide some value before asking someone to look at an offer.
It also gives that visitor a reason to remember Spare Time Profit.
One Advertisement Should Teach You Something
Here’s another lesson I’m taking from this process.
Every advertisement doesn’t have to produce a sale to provide useful information.
Suppose I run two ads.
Ad A
100 visitors
Very few clicks to the Challenge
Ad B
100 visitors
Many more people continue to the Challenge
Even without an immediate sale, I’ve learned something.
Ad B got a stronger response.
Now I have information I can use to improve my next campaign.
That’s why tracking matters.
My New Rule: Test Before You Scale
Instead of putting a large amount of money into one advertisement immediately, I prefer this approach:
Start Small → Track → Compare → Improve → Scale What Works
That doesn’t guarantee profits.
But it gives me a more disciplined way to approach paid traffic.
And for retirees and beginners working with a limited advertising budget, I think that’s especially important.
Traffic + Content + Trust
I’m beginning to see these three pieces working together.
Traffic gets someone through the door.
Content gives them a reason to stay.
Trust gives them a reason to listen.
And then your offer needs to make sense for that person.
That’s a much stronger approach than simply throwing an affiliate link everywhere and hoping someone buys.
My 6-Week Challenge Continues
That’s one of the reasons I’m documenting this journey.
I’m not pretending I have everything figured out.
I’m learning.
I’m testing.
I’m making changes.
And I’m sharing those lessons with you.
If you’re also trying to understand affiliate marketing, maybe something I discover during these six weeks will help you avoid a mistake—or give you an idea worth testing yourself.

Coming Next: What Happens After the Click?
Getting traffic is only the beginning.
In my next Challenge update, I’m going to look at an equally important question:
You Got the Click—Now What?
We’ll talk about what should happen between getting someone’s attention and asking that person to consider an affiliate offer.
